Inspiration & Beginnings
Inspiration & Beginnings
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Khan completed her schooling at the prestigious Convent of Jesus and Mary, where she was known as a bright student who never shied away from the performing arts, particularly dramatics, dancing and singing.
The early roots of her professional experience and creative inspiration stem from growing up as a sincere admirer of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. As a teenager in 2014, she kick-started her practical journey in content creation, digital marketing and brand activations by uniting and mobilising a network of fans across more than 30 countries through SRK Universe. What began as an expression of gratitude and admiration evolved into hands-on experience in building digital communities, promoting the superstar through coordinated campaigns and organising events, including in her home country, Pakistan.
In 2017, she pursued a programme at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. Drawn to the intersection of business, entertainment and media, Khan chose the renowned USC School of Cinematic Arts, consistently ranked the #1 film school in the world situated in the heart of Hollywood, to further develop her understanding of the industry. The school has long been associated with influential figures including Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg.
During her time at USC, she learnt from and was mentored by esteemed faculty members, including the late David Weitzner and Eve Light Honthaner, whose professional experience spanned major Hollywood studios and landmark productions, such as: E.T, Star Wars, Titanic and Tropic Thunder, respectively.
Khan fondly recalls one of her many candid conversations with David Weitzner, in which he told her:
“I see myself in you...but at your age, you’re far ahead and at par with C-Suite level executives. Long-term, I don’t see you working for anyone, not because you can’t, but because you will have your own company within 10 years.”
Years later, his words hold particular significance. What was once an early recognition of her leadership potential and entrepreneurial spirit has gradually taken shape through the career she has built and the vision she is now bringing to life.
“During her time here as a student, Ms. Khan consistently displayed an outstanding work ethic and distinguished herself with her intelligence, her curiosity, her sense of purpose as well as leadership qualities that lead me to believe that she will be a major asset to any organisation smart enough to employ her.”
David Weitzner | Former President Worldwide Marketing, 20th Century Fox & Universal Studios; Professor, USC Business of Entertainment; Chair/Director, Summer Production Program

Career
Career
Following on-set observation and a brief appearance in Haseeb Hassan and Umera Ahmed’s acclaimed Pakistani television series Alif, Khan continued to build on her practical experience and academic learning, pursuing opportunities across entertainment, marketing, communications and business.
Her career evolved through collaborations with prominent personalities, organisations and brands, both locally and internationally. Alongside her work as a marketing consultant and project lead, she established herself in the fast-paced world of celebrity and influencer management, taking on responsibilities extending far beyond conventional talent representation.
From conceptualising original content, scriptwriting and creative direction to developing commercial collaborations, managing productions, shaping public narratives and coordinating high-profile engagements, Khan has worked extensively behind the scenes to bring creative ideas to life. Her multidisciplinary approach has enabled her to bridge strategy and storytelling with hands-on execution across television, digital entertainment, brand campaigns, public relations and strategic communications.
Among the diverse brands and projects Khan has contributed to, she steered the marketing with a creative vision for brand awareness and growth at Taptap Send. In the fintech sector, she played a central role in launching and driving growth for the money transfer app's entry into the Pakistani remittance corridor. Her work included developing digital video commercials (DVCs) featuring popular celebrities and establishing a region-focused digital footprint through the launch of Taptap Send Pakistan's social media channels. Khan strategically positioned the brand as a trusted bridge for the overseas Pakistani diaspora, communicating its unique selling propositions and expanding its reach across the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and the UAE. Her early strategic recommendations encompassed event and brand partnerships, sports leagues, expansion into the Indian remittance corridor, region-focused content and enabling overseas donations, several of which subsequently aligned with the brand's wider growth initiatives.
Drawing on her experience and early exposure to the food and hospitality industry through her family's business and involvement in the international restaurant chain Subway in Pakistan, Khan went on to help build and launch the homegrown fast-food brand MEG Pakistan from the ground up.
As a core team member of the restaurant business founded in 2023, she was instrumental in shaping its brand identity, positioning and market-entry strategy. Her role extended across marketing, content creation, PR, events, experiential initiatives and operational coordination, combining strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
From its early development and launch in Lahore to its subsequent expansion, including the opening of its out of city branches in Gujranwala and the first Islamabad branch in 2026, Khan played a pivotal role in bringing MEG's brand vision to life and establishing its presence in Pakistan's competitive restaurant industry.

Social Impact & Non-Profit Leadership
Social Impact & Non-Profit Leadership
Beyond entertainment and business, Salwa served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Social Media for the Forbes-recognized non-profit Tayaba.org, co-founded by Bilal Bin Saqib MBE and Momin Saqib. The organisation is committed to improving socio-economic conditions and alleviating the challenges faced by impoverished, water-deprived communities across Pakistan.
Beginning her tenure in 2020, Khan played a pivotal role in strengthening the organisation's operations, outreach and digital presence. She led cross-departmental functions, oversaw production and H2O Wheel donations, mobilised a network of volunteers and spearheaded a wider transformation of the organisation's digital identity. This included revamping its website and introducing emotionally resonant, story-driven campaigns designed to communicate the human impact behind its mission.
Key achievements included expanding into untapped regions of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Punjab, while maintaining consistent operations across Sindh through volunteers and on-ground implementing partners. A defining highlight of her tenure was the ‘Now-For-Tayaba’ NFT campaign, a title she coined. Khan provided hands-on creative direction, leading a team in conceptualising and developing unique digital assets for auction. Each asset was thoughtfully aligned with the organisation's values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on women's empowerment, economic growth and access to clean water.
Launched to coincide with International Charity Day in September 2021, the campaign raised over Rs. 2 million, positioning Tayaba as the first Pakistani NGO and one of the first globally, to leverage blockchain technology as an innovative fundraising mechanism. Today, Tayaba continues to scale its impact and expand its H2O portfolio under the leadership of Khan's former colleague and current CEO, Nida Yousaf Sheikh, having reached over 500,000 lives across Pakistan.

Bringing together a rich body of work and over a decade of multidisciplinary industry experience, Salwa Ali Khan has embarked on a new chapter as the founder of Shift, her creative marketing agency. The agency offers an expansive suite of services that brings together the many facets of her expertise across strategy, branding, storytelling, design, marketing and experiential execution.
Having experienced the industry from both the client's perspective and the creative side, Khan identified a recurring gap in the market: a need for genuine ownership, meaningful creative storytelling and a dedicated, client-focused approach that extends beyond conventional service delivery.
Shift was established to bridge this gap, combining strategic thinking, creative excellence and hands-on accountability with an accessible, collaborative approach to building brands and experiences that leave a lasting impression.
Building on this momentum, Khan is also preparing to bring Unkhanditional to life, a community-centric creative concept that has long been a personal passion and a recurring fixture on her professional agenda. Beginning with a book of personal reflections, the initiative is envisioned to evolve into a space for creativity, connection and meaningful social impact.
Together, these ventures mark a new chapter in her journey: one where years of experience, independent thinking and a commitment to purposeful creativity converge into ideas she can now bring to life under her own vision.
Bringing a rich body of work and years of industry experience to the table, Salwa has launched her creative marketing agency, Shift.
The agency provides an expansive suite of services that encapsulate every facet of her expertise. Having previously been in the role of the client herself, Salwa identified a recurring void in the market: a lack of creatives who demonstrate true ownership and a dedicated, client-focused approach. Shift was established specifically to bridge this gap, marrying high-end quality with affordability to facilitate a genuine transformation in client narratives.
Building on this momentum, Salwa will soon actualise Unkhanditional; a community-centric concept that has long been a personal passion and a primary fixture on her professional agenda. Its launch will mark the next chapter in her mission to foster meaningful connection and impact.
1. Summary
A note from
SALWA ALI KHAN
SALWA ALI KHAN

Over the years, I have found myself moving between worlds that seemed distinct on the surface. Yet, they were always connected by one central thread: creativity.
Each stream strengthened a different capability:
Marketing, Strategy and Branding: How to build.
Storytelling and Digital Content: How to connect, meaningfully and consistently.
Social Impact: Caring about the lasting mark the work leaves behind.
And entrepreneurship has now taught me how to take the leap and bring my vision to life.
Today, these lessons converge, driven by what I have always loved most: turning an abstract idea into something people can see, feel and believe in.
True success is not about what we build for ourselves; it’s about what we leave behind in the people and communities we touch.
Ideas truly become powerful when they are paired with the right intention, people, synergy, and the courage to bring them to life.
So, welcome to two new chapters:
Shift brings together strategy, creativity, and years of experience to turn ideas into enduring brands, campaigns, and experiences, built through shared ownership and purpose.
Unkhanditional stems from a core belief I’ve held for years: that creating, giving, and connecting should never be transactional. Starting as an upcoming book of personal reflections, it will grow into a space for myself and like-minded creators and thinkers, driven by art, perspective, storytelling, and a shared spirit to make a difference.
This website is the foundation: a record of what I have built, a reflection of what I believe, and a glimpse of what lies ahead.
There is so much more to come, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
